By Aap. The mother of a man who was tortured, dismembered and dumped in a wheelie bin over a drug debt says she needs to believe the last faces he saw were not the 'evil monsters' who killed him. Instead, Natasha Masters said she hoped her only son, year-old Beau Davies, saw the faces of his loved ones in his mind as he took his final breaths. Ms Masters wept as she read her victim impact statement to the West Australian Supreme Court on Monday during sentencing submissions for four men convicted over the death of her son in Kalgoorlie, km northeast of Perth, in February last year.
Beau Davies pictured , who was tortured, murdered and hacked into pieces in his bathroom in South Kalgoolie. Steven Roberts, 49, and Stephen Gandy, 40, were found guilty of murder, while Jayden Kett, 26, and Christian Gomis, 30, were convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter. Ms Masters described her son as one of the few great loves of her life.
But, she said, in a blink of an eye, her world changed, leaving her heartbroken, numb and struggling to breathe at times. Mr Davies was bashed, bound with cable ties and repeatedly stabbed in his South Kalgoorlie home.
His body was taken to Roberts' house in nearby Boulder and cut up in the bathroom, then dumped in a wheelie bin. Ms Masters said she only learned the extent of her son's suffering during the trial and wished she could have protected him against such a cruel, brutal and cowardly attack. More than people attended Mr Davies' funeral, showing how much he had touched people's lives, Ms Masters said.
