A synthesis of archaeological material pertaining to the Celts and Scordisci settled in the Danube river basin and central Balkans and the corresponding historical sources about their military-political activities has provided important results. However, it seems that all the possibilities have not been explored. This especially concerns maps of archaeological sites and their interpretation in accordance with historical events.
The mapping of the dated Celtic and Scordisci sites within the territory of Serbia, in order to obtain a dynamic presentation of the changes in their territory and in the number of their sites has proven to be fruitful.
Namely, such systematized and analysed archaeological material, compared to literary sources, has become a good illustration of the consequences resulting from the historical events that marked the last three centuries BC in the central Balkan area and the Danube river basin. This relationship between archaeological material and historical sources, has not only demonstrated that changes in the number of Celtic and Scordisci settlements and their territory were usually in accordance with the most significant events of their history, but it also allows the knowledge about them and their contemporaries to be completed or, eventually, corrected, and supports the continuation of the similar research.

The article is dealing with long term processes especially of domestics and newcomers confrontation at the territory of Roman Viminacium. The first archaeological evidences belong to the Scordiscian and we are tracing their influence all through period of Romanization. Also, during centuries the relation with Dacians over Danube was confirmed through material culture. Namely, after barbarian destruction of Viminacium, the city was abandoned and its ruins just from time to time were partly reconstructed to give home but only to peasants.
