The Creek Waterfront project aligns with the Sustainable Blue Economy strategy, aiming to achieve sustainable development in the emirate in addition to supporting the tourism sector and the economy in particular. Umm Al Quwain boasts a rich history dating back to the 7th millennium BCE, with the discovery of prominent archaeological sites and artifacts during archaeological excavations.
The emirate is characterised by its diverse and picturesque nature, including islands and mangroves. The main coastline of the emirate is 67km long, with mangrove trees covering about 7. These islands are easily visible from the shore and are known for their biological and vital diversity. The island is approximately 8km long, historically inhabited by Umm Al Quwain residents.
The island is flat, with mangrove and Ghaf trees, plants, and serves as a natural reserve for Arabian gazelles, seagulls, eagles, and ospreys. It holds significant archaeological importance, hosting 65 diverse archaeological sites, including tombs, shell mounds, and towers. It is known for multiple human settlements, dating back to the 3rd millennium BCE, continuing until the mid-3rd century CE.
It is where the second oldest pearl in history was discovered, dating back to BCE according to carbon dating, making it the second oldest archaeological pearl in the Arabian Peninsula and the world. One of the most important discoveries is the finding of a circular structure of a large fortress with terraced walls built of limestone, as well as circular tombs dating back to the Umm Al-Nar period.
